Gerson’s treatment was a nutritional immunotherapy that was broadly demonstrated by the majority of investigators to be an advancement in the management of tuberculosis. Gerson published many cured cases of tuberculosis and, later, cancer. Likewise, Coley’s mixed bacterial vaccine was an immunotherapeutic agent that produced many durable remissions of cancer.
